This is one of the best pound cakes you'll ever get to taste in your life. Follow the directions and you'll have a pound cake like you've never tasted before in your life. Yes it really is that delicious. I just simply love the flavor of this pound cake. The icing is easy to make and its also delicious.

I try to keep a pound cake in the freezer to have on hand for a emergency dessert. When needed, I slice it, and toast the slices. Sometimes I top it with fresh fruit, whipped cream, or ice cream. It all depends on what kind of pound cake it is.

2. One Cup Butter Softened.

3. Three And One Half Cups Sugar Divided.

4.Three Cups All Purpose Plain Flour.

6. One Teaspoon Almond Extract.

7. One Teaspoon Vanilla Extract.

9. Five Large Eggs.

Directions For Making Your Classic 7-Up Pound Cake

Pre-heat your oven to 300 degrees.

Spray a 10 Inch Tube Pan With Vegetable Cooking Spray And Flour The Pan Well.

In a large bowl combine butter, shortening, 3 cups of the sugar, vanilla extract, and almond extract and beat with an electric hand mixer until well mixed and fluffy.

Sift your flour and salt together

Add your eggs, flour, and 7 Up to the butter mixture like this. Add 1 egg, a bit of flour and a little of the 7 Up back and forth like that. Do this until all the eggs, the flour and one cup of the 7 Up is used up and mixed into the butter mixture.

Now spoon the prepared cake batter into the prepared 10 inch tube pan.

Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour and 40 minutes until done or until you can insert a toothpick in the center and it comes out clean.

Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes.

Remove the cake from the pan.

Mix the remaining sugar and 7 Up together with a hand electric mixer.

Spread the icing over the cake.
